Legacy of Fr. Tadros Y. Malaty
-
Fr. Tadros Y. Malaty is a priest in the Coptic Orthodox Church. He has been publishing books since the 1960’s. His theological, spiritual, liturgical, and historical writings are characterized by their abundance of biblical and patristic references. He composed a complete set of patristic commentaries that cover the entire Old and New Testaments. These books focus on how to practically live as sons and daughters of the Heavenly Father in Christ our Savior by the grace of the Holy Spirit.
Father Malaty authored many books about the lives of the early Fathers and martyrs, revealing how they lived as a ‘living Bible’ and as role models for all Christians. He began writing and publishing in Arabic, and many of his works have since been translated into English. In addition to his pastoral ministry, he participated in ecumenical and theological dialogues between the Oriental Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox, and Catholic Churches.
Known for his scriptural depth, pastoral gentleness, and ability to make the Word of God accessible to all.
His commentaries and books are used across the world. -
Because his work shaped this ministry directly.
Through personal guidance and blessing, he encouraged the preservation and continuation of his writings for future generations.
MoCL honours his legacy by presenting his work faithfully and respectfully. -
Mind of Christ Light is a stewardship rooted in Holy Scripture, Orthodox teaching, and the patristic tradition, serving the reception and study of the Church’s teaching. Mind of Christ Light was formed through years of close discipleship and direct collaboration with Fr. Tadros, guided by his teaching, manner of life, and approach to preparing and caring for his writings. Within this context, the works presented here are offered with particular attention to continuity, clarity, and faithfulness to his intended meaning and spirit, always with Christ as the cornerstone.
