Fr. Tadros Y. Malaty Legacy Pamphlets
Preserving the Light • Continuing the Vision • Living the Apostolic Faith
“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
The Legacy Pamphlest are a living treasury of the writings of Fr. Tadros Yacoub Malaty, preserved and presented by Mind of Christ Light in the same spirit of faith and simplicity he embodied.
Each pamphlet is a bridge between the early Church and today’s believer, where theology becomes life, and Scripture speaks in the warmth of the Father’s love.
Bible
This book presents answers to the following questions:
* Why does God permit earthquakes to happen?
* What is the role of the divine Providence in the midst of these destructive natural disasters?
* What is the significance of earthquakes in the Bible, both the Old and the New Testaments?
* What is the position of the church towards the victims?
Jabez’s prayer, which was mentioned in the First Book of Chronicles (4:10), is considered a unique prayer. The prayer and its answer occupy only one verse.
Jabez presents us with a perfect prayer that God acknowledged and answered so quickly. Why was it accepted?
Spiritualities
Immerse yourself in the spiritual journey of "Fasting," a short pamphlet exploring the ancient Christian practice as viewed through the lens of the Coptic Orthodox Church. With a blend of biblical narratives and theological insights, this guide invites believers and seekers alike to experience the transformative power of fasting.
The Lord Jesus granted His disciples His name, not merely to perform miracles, heal the sick, and cast out demons. Still, He has also emphasised to them the power of His name while saying: "And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you." (John 16:23), meaning through Him, we can reach the Father and enjoy eternal glory. The seventy apostles realized the power the name of Jesus as they said: "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." (Luke 10:17). Isaiah the prophet described in his song of thanksgiving on the power of God's name, as he says: "The desire of our soul is for Your name
Saint John Chrysostom says: [Prayer is a mighty weapon, an unfailing treasure, a wealth which is never expended, a harbor that is always calm, a foundation for tranquility. Prayer is the root and source and mother of ten thousand blessings. It is more powerful than the empire itself.]
This book presents 10 prayers from the prayers of the saints: St. Ephraim the Syrian, Spiritual Elder (St. John Saba), St. Isaac the Syrian, St. Ambrose and St. Augustine.
We often find it hard to talk about obedience. For many people, especially the young, obedience is associated with a weak personality and submitting to others, as with parents, consultants or leaders at school, in the community, or even in the church. Many people see obedience as controlling others and forcing their opinions and experiences on them, which can cause feelings of being belittled or the desire to rebel. If these feelings are not shown through outward behavior or body language, they are nevertheless present in the mind.
- Now why does God ask for our obedience?
- Does obedience ignore the right of discussion?
- Does God accept blind obedience?
- And what is the aim of obedience? Do we live in humiliation?
This book is about the great biblical obedience, and the correction of the misconceptions about obedience.
Repentance is an opening up of the heart so it can accept the joyful Kingdom of God; it is the exercise of a son or a daughter who longs to enter inside the new depths of his/her heavenly Father’s bosom; it is a renewal of the inner man as he/she longs to reach the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Epistle to Ephesians 4:13). Indeed, repentance is a renouncing of sins that prevail in the darkness, and the bonding to the divine Light, the Grantor of victory.
Patrology
This book presents five Soliloquies of Saint Augustine
[Whenever You drew me close unto You, my soul would continue to search for You, driven by my aspiration, while You resided in my heart!] From Soliloquy 1
[My Lord… You are my Light; open my eyes to behold Your divine brightness so that I would be able to walk down my path without stumbling in the traps of the enemy!] From Soliloquy 2
[If anything, godly was found in me, You would be its Source, for the godliness inside me is Your goodness, O Righteous, and from You I have received it!] From Soliloquy 3
[I beg You to command the dead to get out of the tomb! Oh! My Lord! I am appealing to You before I perish; or at least, I appeal so I would not perish, but deserve to dwell in You!] From Soliloquy 4
[You created me when I didn't exist, and You made me exist with Your will. Even before I existed, You had the glory that fits Your greatness.] From Soliloquy 5
In this pamphlet, the approach to prayer will be presented in the hopes that you, the reader, gain an enhanced understanding of the life of prayer.
The writings of St. Basil are distinguished by his spiritual and practical approach. St. Basil never looked to prayer as a routine, but rather he looked at it as the instrument to use in working towards our goal of salvation. He was interested in presenting practical exercises of prayer that are effective. In discussing how to approach prayer in the text below, he introduces the concept of building up our prayer life through exercises and training in prayer under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Just as an athlete trains for a marathon, we as Christians must train our minds and bodies for prayer.
Christian Life
Every wise father and mother desires that their child become a successful leader, capable of leading a life in all the physical, intellectual and spiritual aspects found in the society he or she lives in. Such a desire is in harmony with God’s will, for He created a sound humanity, in possession of authority, so that not one from amongst them may become enslaved.
This pamphlet examines a terrific biblical example; one that offers practical means in the sound guidance of raising our children, so that they may develop leadership skills at a young age, while possessing a spirit of humility, and having their own personalities that are pleasing to God, and supportive of humankind’s society. This character is that of King Josiah (2 Chronicles 34:35), then highlights the sayings of John Chrysostom about raising children portraying the extensive dangers of negligence in this matter, for he did not hesitate to call it, “the slaughter of children.”
Feasts
The Church Fathers often address the role of the Baby of the manger in the lives of the believers, which transforms us into a joyful bride that through her heavenly Bridegroom (Jesus) can resist the forces of darkness, sin, evil, and Satan himself. St. Jacob of Serugh was the one who had pictured the reaction of the kingdom of Satan to the Birth of this glorious Child.
St. Jacob of Serugh recorded a memoir depicting in his deep spiritual sense, his rich imagination, and his intriguing style, a serious meeting revolving around the Baby of the manger. The attendees of this gathering are all the devils, and among them their leader himself (Satan). They realized the potential consequences and the impact on the kingdom of darkness after the manifestation of the Word of God.
I feel obliged to publish this memoir and my commentary, so we can appreciate the powers that we possess in the Baby of the manger to resist the kingdom of darkness, leaving no room for it among us. This is a memoir that touches our lives, triumphs, and glories in Christ our Master, the Conqueror of evil and Grantor of all goodness.
Through this recording we are to experience the promise of our Lord Himself when He said: “Do not fear my little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”[Luke 12:32].
From the inspiration of St. Basil the Great on the Feast of the Holy Epiphany:
- Baptisms of Moses, of John the Baptist and of the Lord Jesus
- My Holy Spirit will guide you to the new birth
- I received you that I may cover you and become your Goodness, your holiness and your salvation
- The Father loves you!
